'... the only problem...'

We're back
We've been quiet for a while, but are now back in action.

There's a new blog post, which will explain what has been happening over the last few years, leading up to our new website, photos etc, explaining where we go next. Come back regularly to see what happens.

Animals are not toys
We do not accept animal donations or will keep abandoned animals.

We appreciate you thinking of us while finding your pet a new home. However, we recommend contacting one of the many animal rescue centres for help.

Give Me Land, Lot's of Land...
Changes are afoot, and there will be a longer entry on this subject soon.

Spring Open Day
Spring has sprung at Oakapple Farm, and it's time to open up for visitors once more.

Entry is free as always, so take a walk from the new entrance on Lancaster Way and meet our new lambs, chickens, and various other animals.

Open from 12 until 4pm.

A Good Life in Billing
Northampton Urban Farm Project will be attending the Good Life event at Billing Garden Store along with numerous other environmental, animal, and plant exhibitors.

It's on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March, 10:30 - 4:30 and entry is free.
A few of our chickens will be joining us, and we're always happy to chat about our plans and explain how you can help – so come along and say hello.

Rent-a-Chicken is Go!
We're happy to begin providing eggs to our flock share holders this week. Once the snow cleared the Columbian Blacktails broke into adolescence and most are now happily laying eggs.

Thank you to our customers patience over the last two months, we hope they enjoy their eggs through to next year.

5 and 20 after Tree O'clock
As part of the BBC's Breathing Spaces Tree O'clock world record attempt the NUFP helped by planting 25 native trees in under an hour. Hundreds of thousands were due to be planted across the country in a single hour, and we wanted to do our bit.

A huge thank you to our volunteers and to the readers of the Chronicle and Echo who donated trees from around Northampton and surrounding villages.

Work on the site isn't the NUFP
In answer to some queries the NUFP would like to make it clear the recent appearance of machinery and clearance work on the site has not been carried out by them.

If you have any concerns about it we suggest you contact Andrew Middleditch at Henry H Bletsoe & Son – who respresent most of the owners – or the family who are carrying out the work.

New website begins to evolve
The beginnings of the new website for the Northampton Urban Farm Project are made public today.

With regular emails asking for information on the urban farm the committee have decided to allow access to the initial pages. Much more will be added over time, and the NUFP committee hopes you'll enjoy reading about our work and return soon to see what new has been added.

Foodie Fair a fair food affair
The first Foodie Fair at Oakapple Farm had clear skies and a regular stream of visitors yesterday.

Although hastily arranged and advertised, around 100 people visited the farm where there were stalls selling food and wine. Queues built up at local pig keeper Mikes sausage stall once everyone realised how tasty they were and the apple press couldn't supply the juice fast enough.

'We've learnt some lessons', said Liz Tate, organiser of the day, 'But it went well. Next time we'll have much more of the same.'

The Foodie Fair at Oakapple Farm
As most of this years crops have been harvested and the visiting animals are back with their owners, it's been a bit bare on the farm lately.

With this in mind the NUFP are gathering local food producers together this Sunday (19th October) for a free day for them and our visitors.

There'll be food to eat as well as items to buy for oils, wines, jams and pickles, vegetables and freshly pressed apple juice.

The gates open at 12 and close at 4pm, and it's totally free. Our new flock of chickens should be there, so why not come and join them?
